I have been thinking on how to approach this topic without people going ape poo over it. First of all it is difficult for me to make a point on this rape discussion due to a glaring issue...
I have never been raped.
This makes it tough for me to have a well respected opinion. People will say..."O you have never been raped and probably never will be because your a man and you don't understand."
This is like how they say..."O your not black so you don't know what it is like when people use the N-word."
This is true. I don't understand. But let me try to explain something anyways.
To me this shirt seems to be very personnel to this woman. Yes it was a very traumatic experience for her and more then likely changed her life. Do we need a t-shirt though that tells us this? I would have to say no. I know that this is a horrible thing. Rape is no laughing matter. And I'm not saying keep it to yourself. But maybe don't tell the whole world about it. We all know rape exists. But I am not sure if we all need to share the same experience as she did.
Good idea? In the end I would have to say no. I don't think her message is going to come across clearly for everybody and people will take it the wrong way. I could even see the t-shirt becoming a novelty item or a fad shirt such as "Vote For Pedro" or "Frankie Says Relax". (is that how the quote goes? something like that)
Ok...let the comments pile in. Tell me how wrong I am and how I missed the point.
